Overcome Your Fear of Trying Something New

Posted by Jasmine Serle 0 Comment Jun 30, 2011

Sometimes you’re presented with opportunities that allow you to gain new markets, grow your business and increase your income. It’s a great opportunity that you may have hoped for or even actively pursued. In some cases, it may be an opportunity that you never expected and simply fell on your lap.

But with excitement and anticipation comes fear and trepidation.

What if you can’t do it? What if you’re in way over your head? What if you are not skilled enough, or equipped enough to handle the challenge? What if you’re already stretched too thin? What if you don’t have time to do this new opportunity? And the biggest fear of all – what if you fail?

Guess what? It’s ok to fe

Social Bullpen

The pendulum swings in politics, cyclical trends come in fashion (see hipster), history repeats itself in business and industry á la Ayn Rand.

What can we expect from social media? Continued metamorphosis with tentacles into every form of “media.”

This is an observation, not a prediction.

The corporate budget bucket that social media, mobile and tech communication tools are falling into is marketing. The American economy is based on a free market. This puts the power in the hands of the people. BTW – Happy Independence Day! What a great day to celebrate the power of the American consumer!

And it is the people that makes social platforms so valuable – the users and every bit of information about the user that is gathered.

Why the Young Generation Can’t Be Unemployed

Posted by Luke Dadson 0 Comment Jun 30, 2011

Jobs are not necessarily rare nowadays, but, as studies have shown, employers look for just the right employee for the position.

In a study released at the beginning of June by the staffing solutions leader Manpower Group, it was revealed that employers have difficulties finding the right candidates for their open positions. This is partly caused by talent shortage, but also by how picky employers can be.

As the Manpower Group President of the Americas, Jonas Prising, pointed out, US employers are willing to wait a long time to find that perfect candidate.

The wholesale dairy commodity market is largely maintaining its strong tone with UK butter prices reaching record levels at £3,800/tonne in June. Concerns over EU butter stocks going into the autumn, coupled with competition between export and domestic markets, saw the UK butter price increase by £350/t, or 10%, over the month.

The bulk cream price also increased in June by £100/tonne (5.9%) to £1,800/tonne, said DairyCo in its Dairy Market Update. However skimmed milk powder and Cheddar prices did not move.

While EU milk production rose by 2.8% in January to April 2011, output in New Zealand is expected to be up by 15% between January and June compared with 2010. Str

Posted by Luke Dadson 0 Comment Jun 30, 2011

Here are a couple of ways to save some cash over the long Independence Day holiday weekend, in honor of Cheap Trick Thursday:

* Get a free game each day at Brunswick Zone bowling alleys in Columbia, Ellicott City and Perry Hall from July 1 through July 4. (via Atlanta Bargain Hunter)

* ParticipatingBurger King locations will sell its Original Chicken Sandwich for what has been described as a “patriotic” price of $1.04 on July 2, July 3 and July 4.

(I’m not certain why $1.04 is patriotic, but as editor Justine points out, it’s a better deal than if they were charging, say, $17.76.)

* Buy tickets to Six Flags America online by July 1 and pay only the kid admission price of $34.99, which I discovered via TravelZoo. Read Full Post…
